Miteinander in Österreich – Course Book Series (A1 to B1)

General Information

Miteinander in Österreich is a modern course book series for German as a Second Language (DaZ). It has been specifically developed for adults and young learners who want to learn German and prepare for everyday life in Austria. The series follows the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) and supports learners in developing their language skills step by step.

A special focus is placed on authentic situations from everyday life in Austria. As a result, learners not only improve their language proficiency but also gain valuable insights into Austrian society and daily life.

Target Group

The course book series is primarily intended for adults and young learners aged 16 and above. It is suitable for integration courses as well as general German language courses and can be used in face-to-face, hybrid, or online learning environments.

Structure of the Series

The series covers the levels A1.1, A1.2, A2.1, A2.2, B1.1, and B1.2. Each volume systematically guides learners toward the next language level while combining course material and practice exercises in one book.

The lessons are carefully structured and progressively build on one another, developing all four language skills: listening, reading, writing, and speaking. Grammar and vocabulary are always introduced within meaningful and practical communication contexts.

A1.1

The first volume provides the fundamental language skills. Learners practice introducing themselves, exchanging personal information, asking simple questions, and participating in everyday conversations. They also learn how to complete basic forms and understand short messages.

The primary objective is to help learners gain confidence in common daily situations.

A1.2

At this level, learners expand both their vocabulary and their communicative abilities. The main topics include housing, shopping, health, family, and leisure activities.

In addition, learners become more confident in participating in longer conversations and writing short texts independently.

A2.1

The third volume introduces more challenging language situations. Learners work with topics such as public authorities, medical appointments, transportation, employment, and further education.

They continue developing their ability to communicate independently in everyday situations and exchange information effectively.

A2.2

The content at this level prepares learners for more complex communication. They learn how to express opinions, describe personal experiences, and explain problems clearly.

Written communication also becomes more important, including writing emails and short formal texts.

B1.1

By the B1.1 level, learners reach a significantly more independent stage of language use. They are able to talk about personal experiences, justify their opinions, and participate in longer conversations.

In addition, the course covers professional situations, discussions, and more demanding reading texts. The overall goal is to further strengthen learners' language skills for everyday life, work, and successful integration.

Teaching Approach

One of the key strengths of the series is its close connection between language learning and real-life situations. Grammar is not presented in isolation but is always practiced through meaningful communication. Authentic dialogues, varied exercises, and regular revision activities help learners achieve long-term learning success.

The series also offers digital resources such as audio recordings, videos, and interactive exercises, encouraging independent learning while making lessons more flexible and engaging.
